An engineer will come equipped with monitoring
and test equipment to evaluate your problems. The engineer will interview personnel to
understand the problems and how the manufacturing process is supposed to operate. Based on
the interview, appropriate monitors will be installed and the electrical control and
distribution will be looked at for potential sources to the problem. When the problem is
located, recommendations will be made to mitigate the problem. If necessary, our engineer
will act as a liaison to representatives of the utility, equipment manufacturer or other
parties associated with the problem.
- Harmonic Filter Application and Evaluating
- Electrical Equipment failures (motors, transformers, etc.)
- Equipment operating incorrectly (CNC, relay schemes, process control,
etc.)
- Ground fault and grounding issues
- Process equipment down time due sags/swells
- Capacitor Switching

KPS can provide complete harmonic,
coordination and fault analysis. Harmonic analysis are done with the Electrotek Concepts
SuperHarmtm program. Coordination and fault analysis are done using the SKM
Captor and Dapper programs. Simple transient cases are analyzed using KPS
software and a third party is used to perform EMTP simulations when more sophisticated
transient analysis is required. Back to the Top |

Keweenaw Power Systems has extensive
experience with Reliable Power Meters, Square D Power Logic, Power Measurements, Ltd.,
Dranetz and Basic Measurement Instrument meters. Whether you are looking to purchase, rent
or install these meters, KPS can help. We have several meters for lease and we install and
set up custom permanently installed meter systems. In addition, we offer a monthly
monitoring service where we install meters at your site, down load the data to our office
and provide a monthly report summarizing the quality of your power. This way you have the
benefit of having monthly monitoring without the hassle of maintaining it. Back to the Top |

Testing:
|
An important part of the reliability work that
we perform is understanding how vulnerable a component or system is to over and under
voltages. We have access to equipment to generate various fluctuations in voltage. This
allows us to determine how electrical components react under various conditions and to
install solutions and determine whether or not they will be effective. Back to the Top |

| Solution Recommendations:
|
From surge protection to custom power devices
like Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVRs) KPS personnel are in touch with the
manufacturers developing these technologies. All of these power quality solutions have
there attributes and drawbacks. The key is to understand the limitations of all the
products and to specify the appropriate technology to cost effectively solve the problem.
It is important to understand that no one device will solve all problems and that KPS
can help you understand these technologies to make an educated purchase. Back to the Top |

| Education:
|
KPS can provide general power quality seminars
customized to your particular interests and problems. We feel that an important part of
our job is educating our clients. We can also customize classes to teach your personnel
how to operate your permanently installed meter system. The class notes will be customized
with screen captures from your system so that the student sees in the class what they are
going to see on the screen when they work with the system. Back
